cos i got a ticket for going through a red light. (it was an honest mistake caused by my accidentally focusing on the wrong light at a junction where they have 2 different sets of lights right next to each other)
if i go to traffic school i don't get a point on my licence which means my insurance wont go up.

8 hourse
they don't really teach you more than a few things you already know.
It's more of a punishment, but the comedy traffic school makes it a bit more fun.
